Basic Society Rules
As a group we follow all standard golf rules, for a complete list click here, and to make things fairer between all the players we play to Stableford Rules. A complete list of Stableford Rules are available here but a quick summary would be:
On every hole you score points and these are given as such:
| 2 or more over par | - | 0 points |
| 1 over par | - | 1 point |
| Par | - | 2 points |
| 1 under par | - | 3 points |
| 2 under par | - | 4 points |
| 3 under par | - | 5 points |
| and so on.. |
Over 18 holes we add up all the scores for each hole and your final score is your total points. To aid players we also implicate handicaps, which we work out using the system
outlined below. If a player has an 18 handicap it would help them by adding an extra shot to the Par Score on each hole, whereas a handicap of 7 would only add an extra shot to the Par Score on the 7 hardest holes.
We also run a Closest to the Pin competition on an appropriate par 3 hole, and a Longest Drive competition on a suitable par 5, occasionally for a small wager between players. The most important prize though is our “Worst Player on the Course’ shirt which is awarded to the player we deem to have played the worse on the course for that
round.
